"Programming is terrible: lessons from life wasted"

The talk is actually very encouraging of people thinking about learning about programming- for fun or otherwise. He basically says everything I’ve been thinking about in my very short life as a code-user.

Of course he’s instantly awesome in my book for recommending Scratch and saying C should probably be a second or third language for anyone new to programming.

Bioluminescent Organisms, Japan

Photograph by Paul A. Zahl

The transparent shells of tiny Cypridina hilgendorfii, found in the coastal waters and sands of Japan, hold a creature that emits a luminous blue substance when disturbed. During World War II, the Japanese harvested these creatures for soldiers to use when reading maps and messages at night.

The Alnwick Poison Garden is pretty much what you’d think it is: a garden full of plants that can kill you (among many other things). Some of the plants are so dangerous that they have to be kept behind bars. [x]

Reading to Have Read

Modern trend in reading- reading to have read.

Well it’s not even a modern trend when I really think about it. Certainly is more widespread though.
